The Millennium Science Programme of the Government of Chile is responsible for the funding of cutting edge research centres and the promotion and development of excellence in scientific and technological research.
Prof Judith Sixsmith has been asked to join the Programme Committee in social sciences, which is the technical scientific body which supervises the programme, and selects and evaluates projects. The committee comprises thirteen international foreign world-class scientists, divided into two commissions, according to their areas of expertise: the Natural and Exact Sciences Commission, with eight members; and the Social Sciences Commission, with five members. The programme committee is formed by outstanding researchers from around the world.
Judith will attend an evaluation meeting in the autumn and a second evaluation meeting during the first quarter of 2018 in Santiago, Chile.
Judith quoted “This programme is part of the Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism of Chile. As such, it is a great way of showing reputation in the world and how we are impacting the governmental processes of other countries”
