Incorporating Cancer Risk Information Into General Practice: The first steps from a sandpit idea

It is estimated that approximately 40% of all cases of cancer are attributable to lifestyle factors. A number of risk tools are now available which enable prediction of an individual’s future risk of cancer and the contribution of their lifestyle choices to that risk. Providing people with this information has the potential to promote behaviour change and complement prevention strategies targeting the risk factors for cancer at the population level. This talk will present the results of two pieces of pilot work developed following a Cancer Research UK research ‘sandpit’. The first is focus groups with healthcare professionals exploring their views on incorporating cancer risk into general practice and the second interviews with members of the public on receiving personalised cancer risk information.

A sandwich lunch will be provided. If you have any specific dietary requirements, please email by Monday 10th April
