Dr Sarah Neill, Associate Professor, School of Health

Aim: to introduce participants to NVivo, a qualitative data analysis (QDA) management tool.

Learning outcomes:

 Participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the role of QDA software in the analysis of qualitative data
  2. Describe how NVivo can facilitate constant comparative analysis
  3. Find the software, use the embedded tutorials following the session, upload data and begin coding.

This session will introduce participants to NVivo, a qualitative data analysis (QDA) management tool. It is intended for those who have yet to use NVivo and who may be considering its use in future. The session will explore how to import data into NVivo, how to code data, add memos and annotations to data. Participants will also be shown where to find NVivo on the university staff webpages.

Suitable for anyone who is trying to decide what software to use for qualitative data analysis.  Participants will need some experience and/or understanding of the process of qualitative data analysis.
